Kazakhstan: Zhana Makat well finds Triassic pays

Max Petroleum PLC is running production casing at a successful appraisal well in Zhana Makat field in the North Caspian basin.

-- Max Petroleum PLC is running production casing at a successful appraisal well in Zhana Makat field in the North Caspian basin.

Logs at the ZMA-ET2 well indicated 18 m of net oil pay in three Triassic sandstone reservoirs at 1,283-1,358 m. Reservoir quality appears excellent with porosities of 18-26%, the company said. TD is 1,492 m.

The company will complete and test the well using a workover rig after obtaining the requisite governmental approvals.
