HOUSTON, May 23 – Eni has been awarded 100% participation interest and operatorship of the Arguni I block on and off West Papua in eastern Indonesia.
The block covers 5,386 sq km in the Bintuni basin, a mainly gas prone, prolific hydrocarbon province, with several giant gas discoveries already in production. The work program is to drill two wells and shoot 500 line-km of 2D and 200 sq km of 3D seismic surveys in the first 3 years of exploration. The Tangguh LNG processing facility is 10 km west of the Arguni I acreage.
Eni has recently made and has successfully appraised the Jangkrik discovery on the Muara Bakau PSC in the Kutei basin offshore, for which a plan of development is being submitted.
