HOUSTON, May 11 – Reliance Industries Ltd. has spud the third exploratory well on the D9 license in the Krishna-Godavari basin off eastern India.
The KG-D9-A2 well in 2,700 m of water is to go to 4,875 m MDRT to probe the hydrocarbon potential of an Early and Late Miocene channel fan complex. The Transocean Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 drillship is drilling the well.
Reliance has 90% participating interest and Hardy Oil & Gas PLC 10% in the 8,700 sq km license, where the minimum work program is to drill four exploratory wells.
