HOUSTON, May 3 -- Valero Energy Corp. and Harvest Pipeline Co. plan to build a 50,000 b/d crude oil pipeline from the Eagle Ford shale to Valero’s 85,000 b/d Three Rivers refinery. Harvest says the 10-in. and 12-in. OD pipeline will extend 50 miles from Atascosa and Live Oak counties in Texas directly to Valero’s refinery. Pipe for the project has been ordered and right-of-way acquisition is under way, Harvest said.
Valero intends to increase the amount of Eagle Ford crude processed at its Three Rivers refinery to as much as 60,000 b/d from current rates of about 20,000 b/d. The new line will lower the refinery’s costs and reduce traffic from trucks delivering oil to the plant, according to Harvest.
The line will be expandable to more than 70,000 b/d and will include direct connections to producers along its route and initially two truck offloading stations. Harvest expects the pipeline to enter service in December.
Harvest started building a 25-mile oil line from near Cotulla in LaSalle County, Tex., to an interconnect near Fowlerton, Tex., with its existing 140-mile Pearsall pipeline. (OGJ Online, Jan. 11, 2011).
