HOUSTON, May 17
-- Bien Dong Petroleum Operating Co., a subsidiary of Vietnam Oil & Gas Group, placed a $30 million order with GE Oil & Gas for 16 high pressure, high-temperature surface wellheads and trees for the Phase 1 development of Hai Thach and Moc Tinh gas fields on Blocks 05-2 and 05-3 off Vietnam. The developments are in the Nam Con Son basin in about 140 m of water.

GE notes that Hai Thach and Moc Tinh are the largest offshore gas and condensate development projects in Vietnam.

GE's Vetco Gray equipment is rated for 350° F. and 15,000 psi.

In a 2009 document for securing a tender-assisted semisubmersible drilling rig for developing the gas, Bien Dong notes that Hai Thach and Moc Tinh (Jupiter) contain estimated reserves of 55 billion cu m and 150 million bbl of condensate.
