HOUSTON, Apr. 20
– Niko Resources Ltd., Calgary, signed production sharing contracts with the government on three blocks off Trinidad and Tobago.

Niko will operate with 56% interest the 251,870-acre NCMA2 block in 150-170 m of water 50 km north-northwest of Trinidad’s northern coast. The company will operate with 80% interest the 520,439-acre NCMA3 block in 100-150 m of water 25 km north-northwest of Trinidad’s northern coast.

Both blocks are on trend with giant Hibiscus and Chaconia gas fields.

Niko will hold 100% interest in the 396,634-acre Block 4(b) in 200-700 m of water in the Columbus basin 100 km east of Trinidad’s east coast.

Block 4(b) has several undrilled structures with pronounced seismic amplitude anomalies that suggest the presence of hydrocarbons, Niko said. The block is north of Block 5(c), where several gas discoveries have been made.

Niko has interest in five other blocks on and offshore Trinidad.
