HOUSTON, Apr. 18
– Parex Resources Inc., Calgary, plans to spud the first of two exploratory wells on the Central Range Shallow block in Trinidad and Tobago in the second quarter of 2011.

Meanwhile, Parex awaits written confirmation from the ministry of earning status at the Firecrown-1 well on the Moruga block. The well penetrated both the primary and secondary objectives in the Miocene Herrera formation before encountering mechanical problems at 10,330 ft, short of the required contract earning depth of 10,500 ft (OGJ Online, Feb. 16, 2011).

Subject to this confirmation that Parex and partners have fulfilled the earning requirements for the block, completion and testing operations are to begin in May 2011. Parex holds 223,500 acres onshore Trinidad.
