HOUSTON, Apr. 8 -- South Hook Gas Co. Ltd. has signed a framework agreement for access to spare LNG import capacity with ConocoPhillips. South Hook Gas already delivers gas to ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe and to Total Gas & Power from its South Hook LNG terminal in Milford Haven, Wales.
The framework agreement will allow ConocoPhillips to supply gas through South Hook LNG when capacity is available, but does not commit either party to particular timings or volumes.
The terminal has processing capacity of 15.6 million tonnes/year and sendout capacity in the UK National Transmission System of 21 billion cu m/year (about 2 bcfd). It is part of the supply chain of the Qatargas 2 integrated value chain, which begins with liquefaction at Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar, fed by 30 wells and three platforms in Qatar's North field. Gas is liquefied in Trains 4 and 5 at Ras Laffan, loaded onto specially built LNG carriers, and shipped to the South Hook terminal.
South Hook Gas, a joint-venture of Qatar Petroleum (70%) and ExxonMobil Corp. (30%), began operations in 2009 and has the ability to supply about 20% of the UK’s gas requirements, according to the company.
