HOUSTON, Apr. 12
-- Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) said a formation test in the first Guara area extension well, 3-SPS-69 (3-BRSA-788), on Block BM-S-9 in the Santos basin flowed at 6,000 b/d of 30° gravity oil. The test equipment used restricted the flow rate. Petrobras estimates that the well has a potential for initially producing 50,000 bo/d from the presalt formation.

The well is in the Guara North area in 2,118 m of water about 300 km off Sao Paulo state and 15 km northeast of the Guara discovery well 1-SPS-55.

Petrobras said the discovery well had similar excellent results.

The company currently is drilling a second extension well, Guara South (3-SPS-82A), about 7 km south of the Guara discovery well.

Operator Petrobras has a 45% interest in the block. Its partners are BG Group 30% and Repsol Sinopec Brasil 25%.
