HOUSTON, Apr. 18 -- Consorcio Colombia Energy and Suroco Energy Inc., Calgary, have spud the Cohembi-3 appraisal well targeting the Villeta N reservoir at Cohembi oil field on the 90,000-acre Suroriente block in the southeast part of Colombia’s Putumayo basin.
Suroco Energy, which has a 15.8% working interest in the block, noted that Cohembi-2 confirmed a thicker oil-bearing interval than the discovery well, which has recovered 2.6 million bbl and is making 1,950 b/d with no significant water production. Cohembi-3 is 1 km northwest of Cohembi-1.
Production from the entire Suroriente block was 6,400 b/d of oil as of Apr. 13 after averaging 4,768 b/d in the first quarter of 2011. Cohembi-2 went on permanent production Mar. 22 and averaged 1,453 b/d through Apr. 13. It demonstrates higher production capacity than Cohembi-1 and is being produced at a conservative rate while monitoring the stabilization of production characteristics, Suroco Energy said.
Pinuna-5 is back on production at 1,250 b/d of oil on a replaced electric submersible pump. The service rig will remain on the block to complete other workovers, including Pinuna-2 where the operator plans to perforate and test the oil-bearing Villeta U sand calculated to have 23 ft of untested net oil pay.
