HOUSTON, Mar. 21
– Tethys Petroleum Ltd. will shortly begin a gravity gradiometry and aeromagnetic survey over the entire 35,000 sq km Bokhtar production sharing contract area in Tajukistan.

The survey, to be carried out in the 2011 second quarter, will complement existing seismic data and is considered important in attracting a farmout partner. The company is in discussions with several parties.

Tethys plans to drill an exploratory well to as deep as 3,000 m in the coming quarter.

Radial drilling is planned at the KOM201 well near Dushanbe. Total depth is 2,456 m measured depth. Wireline logs indicate potential for hydrocarbons in the secondary, overlying targets of the Cenomanian, Hauterivian, and Bukhara.

The East Olimtoi EOL09 exploratory well 40 km southwest of Kulob is at 2,900 m and targets a Paleogene reservoir expected at 3,800 m. It is on the edge of a salt induced structure.
