HOUSTON, Mar. 31
-- The Syrian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and General Petroleum Corp. have opened the 2011 international offshore bid round in the Mediterranean off Syria.

CGGVeritas shot 5,000 km of long-offset, multiclient 2D data shot in 2005 in 500-1,700 m of water. Each interested bidder is required to license at least 3,000 km of these data.

CGGV, which is also offering an interpretation package, gravity data, seep data, and reprocessed seismic, will cohost road shows in Damascas, London, and Geneva.

Reprocessing results to date show an uplift at all levels of the seismic data, the contractor said. The data show key seismic indicators including bright spots, flat spots, gas chimneys, and dimming that point to the presence of an active petroleum system.
