HOUSTON, Mar. 18 -- Statoil noted that production from the three subsea templates on the Vega gas-condensate development, off Norway, started on Dec. 2, 2010. The production flows to processing facilities on the GDF Suez E&P Norway AS-operated Gjoa semisubmersible production platform.
Vega and Vega South consist of three discoveries Vega North, Vega Central, and Vega South (previously called Camilla, Belinda, and Fram B) in the northern part of the North Sea. Vega North and Vega South are 1980 and 1982 discoveries, while Vega South is a 1987 discovery.
Vega (Vega North and Central) is on Block 35/8 and Vega North is about 80 km west of Floro in Sogn og Fjordane county. Vega South is on Block 35/11 about 10 km south of Vega Central, which is about 10 km south of Vega North.
The fields are in 370-380 m of water.
Statoil estimates that peak production from the fields will be 7 million cu m/day of gas and 25,000 b/d of condensate. The company estimates that it will recover about 18 billion cu m of gas and 26 million bbl of condensate from the fields.
Vega (Vega North and Vega Central) are in production license 248 while Vega South is in PL 090C.
Following unitization of the two Vega licenses, the partnership interests are operator Statoil 54%, Petoro AS 24%, Bayerngas Norge AS 10%, Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS 6%, and GDF Suez E&P Norge 6%.
