HOUSTON, Mar. 31
-- Statoil has decided to allow more time to receive tenders for a minimum of one rig that is capable of year-round well intervention operations off Norway.

It now plans to award the tenders in this year's fourth quarter and expects delivery of the rig from the yard in 2014.

Statoil notes that the Category B rig should provide a full range of heavy well intervention and light drilling techniques such as through-tubing rotary drilling, wireline, coiled tubing, high-pressure pumping, and cementing.

The company expects the Category B rig with its integrated service lines to reduce well intervention operations costs by up to 40%.
