HOUSTON, Mar. 16
-- TAG Oil Ltd., Vancouver, BC, plans in coming weeks to test its sidetracked Sidewinder-2 well in New Zealand's Taranaki basin.

The well cut 154 ft of high quality oil- and gas-bearing sandstones in the Miocene Mount Messenger formation on PEP 38748. It was sidetracked to a total depth of 5,238 ft. It extended the area of the main Sidewinder-1 discovery zone and encountered five other pay zones above and below it.

The company, which is drilling the Sidewinder-3 exploratory well from the same pad, will produce Sidewinder-2 through its own production station under construction and due for completion in mid-2011.
