-- Marine Well Containment Co. let a contract to Technip for the design, procurement, and fabrication of the umbilical, riser, and flowline components for MWCC’s expanded well containment response system for the US Gulf of Mexico, set for completion in 2012.

The contract calls for Technip to provide both deepwater and shallow-water riser systems. The two deepwater riser systems for operation in as much as 10,000 ft of water will have buoyancy elements, connection systems, and flexible jumpers, while the two shallow-water systems for use in as much as 2,000 ft of water will have a lazy wave catenary configuration and one control umbilical.

Technip’s operating center in Houston will execute the project while Technip's Le Trait, France, plant will manufacture the flexible pipe. The company's wholly owned subsidiary Duco Inc. will fabricate the umbilical in Channelview, Tex.
