Chevron awards Gendalo-Gehem design contract

-- Chevron Indonesia Co. Ltd. has awarded Technip a front-end engineering design contract for two floating production units for Gendalo and Gehem deepwater gas-condensate fields off East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The units will serve the two fields in 3,500 ft and 6,000 ft of water, respectively (OGJ Online, Sept. 8, 2008).

The contract covers the hull, topsides, mooring systems, and steel catenary risers. It is Technip’s first deepwater engineering project in Indonesia.

Maximum expected production is 1.1 bcfd of gas and 31,000 b/d of condensate (OGJ Online, Dec. 2, 2010). Chevron hasn’t yet determined a production start date.
