HOUSTON, Feb. 18
-- Tethys Petroleum Ltd. has tested oil at the rate of more than 1,100 b/d from its NUR96H2 horizontal development well in North Urtabulak field in Uzbekistan in the Amu Darya basin near the border with Turkmenistan.

The oil flowed from a 1,434-ft lateral in a 437-m thick Jurassic reef producing section. Total depth is 10,039 ft.

The company sees far more potential in North Urtabulak field, Uzbekistan’s second largest oil field, and is evaluating other targets for horizontal drilling. The company believes it has an opportunity to acquire more development and exploration projects in Uzbekistan, where it sees long-term potential.
