HOUSTON, Feb. 3 -- Laser Northeast Gathering Co. LLC broke ground in New Milford, Pa., on construction of its Susquehanna Gathering System. The system will gather natural gas from Marcellus shale wells and transport it up to 30 miles from Susquehanna County into the Millennium Interstate Pipeline in Broome County, NY.

Laser will begin construction of the pipeline this week and expected completion this summer.

Talisman Energy Inc. has an $800 million 2011 Marcellus shale capital program. Its production centers on 218,000 net acres in Tioga, Bradford, and Susquehanna counties in northeastern Pennsylvania, where Talisman has identified more than 2,000 drilling locations and a 6 tcf contingent resource.

Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., meanwhile, agreed to pay $4.1 million in a settlement with Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection that will allow the Houston independent producer to resume Susquehanna County well completion operations in early 2011 (OGJ Online, Dec. 21, 2010).
