HOUSTON, Jan. 20 -- Statoil ASA let a $54 million contract to FMC Technologies Inc. for the manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment for developing Gygrid oil field on Block 6407/8 in the Norwegian Sea.
FMC will manufacture and supply two subsea production trees, one manifold, and associated subsea and topside control systems, based on FMC's standard subsea design for Statoil.
FMC expects to commence delivery of the equipment in the third quarter.
Statoil plans to tie back Gygrid to the Njord semisubmersible production platform, 20 km to the east. Gygrid, discovered in mid-2009, lies in 820 ft of water, and Statoil expects oil production from the field to start in late 2012 or early 2013.
Gygrid along with PanPandora, Katla, and Vigdis North-East are the four fields in Statoil's first wave of fast-track projects. A second wave of fast-track projects includes Fossekall-Dompap, and Vilje South.
Operator Statoil holds a 35% interest in Gygrid. Partners are GDF Suez E&P Norge AS 20%, Norwegian Energy Co. ASA 17.5%, E.On Ruhrgas Norge AS 17.5%, Petoro AS 7.5%, and VNG Norge Operations AS 2.5%.
