HOUSTON, Jan. 18
-- Questerre Energy Corp., Calgary, deferred plans to shoot seismic and build a gas pipeline in connection with its Utica shale exploratory project in Quebec’s St. Lawrence Lowlands despite good cooperation from the government and citizens of Ste-Edouard.

The company said it is deferring the projects pending receipt of the Bureau d’Audiences Publiques sur l’Environnement report, introduction of new hydrocarbon legislation, and the results from two horizontal wells.

Questerre understands the project operator, Talisman Energy Inc., still targets fracturing and testing of the Fortierville and St. Gertrude horizontal wells. Questerre is discussing with the operator the consequences of its decision to delay the completions and its impact on the joint venture and Questerre’s timeline for future work.
