HOUSTON, Jan. 6 – A group led by Nido Petroleum Ltd., Perth, will call off the Aquamarine Driller jack up after it abandons the Tindalo well on SC-54A in the Palawan basin off the Philippines.
The company said the decision is without prejudice to possible development of Yakal field, an option the joint venture is considering.
Tindalo began producing May 30, 2010, from a Miocene carbonate reservoir (OGJ Online, June 1, 2010). Water began encroaching within months, and workover operations ensued.
Nido Petroleum said in late December that Tindalo test results indicated that continued production from the field would be uneconomic. The group is deciding whether to demobilize production equipment from SC-54A or retain it for further work in the permit.
