HOUSTON, Jan. 6
– Talisman Energy Niugini Ltd. is drilling below 1,920 m toward a projected 3,600 m at the Ubuntu-1 wildcat on PPL 259 in Papua New Guinea.

Drilling in a 12-1/4-in. hole is to continue to the base of the Darai limestone, where 9-5/8-in. casing is to be set, said Eaglewood Energy Inc., Calgary, which has 40% participating interest in the Ubuntu area of the license.

The drillsite is 17 km east of undeveloped Ketu and Elevala gas-condensate discoveries.
