North Dakota: Bakken-Three Forks buoys Brigham

By OGJ editors
HOUSTON, Jan. 28
-- Brigham Exploration Co., Austin, said it has completed 49 consecutive long-lateral, high frac stage Bakken and Three Forks wells in the Williston basin in North Dakota.

The company replaced 14 times its estimated 2010 production. It is running five operated rigs in the Rough Rider area and two at Ross. An eighth rig is expected in May 2011, and the company is seeking more rigs.

Four long-lateral, high frac stage Bakken wells in McKenzie and Williams counties had early 24-hr peak flow rates of 1,936-3,240 b/d of oil and 860 Mcfd to 4.74 MMcfd of gas after 30-38 frac stages.

The company expects to add fracture stimulation capacity by mid-April, when it estimates it that 8 wells/month will be fracture stimulated and brought on production.

The firm estimated that it has drilled 7% of the core derisked locations on its 205,600 net acres assuming four-well spacing per producing horizon.
