HOUSTON, Jan. 13 – Technical work on 3D seismic shot on the 2714A block in the Orange basin off southern Namibia has improved the block’s prospectivity, said Chariot Oil & Gas Ltd., Guernsey, UK.
The new work led to an estimate of a gross unrisked mean prospective resource of 13.2 billion bbl, an increase of 3.1 billion bbl. Chariot owns 50% interest in the block, which lies north of Kudu gas field. This technical work included remapping and seismic attribute analysis.
The increase in prospective resource has been identified in a 500 sq km structural prospect that lies wholly within the 3D seismic area and displays seismic attributes indicative of hydrocarbon charge in what is believed to be a Lower Cretaceous deltaic sandstone reservoir.
Chariot continues to evaluate other plays in the block, particularly deeper Barremian targets, equivalent to the reservoir level at Kudu field.
