HOUSTON, Jan. 31
– Shona Energy Co. Inc., Houston, said its Geoproduction Oil & Gas Co. of Colombia subsidiary gauged a gas discovery on the 100% owned Esperanza concession in Colombia’s Lower Magdalena basin.

The Nelson-2 well cut a 500-ft gas column with 135 ft of net pay in an undisclosed formation. It flowed 5.8 MMcfd of gas with 2,638 psi flowing pressure on a 24/64-in. choke from the upper 48 ft of pay. CAOF is 77 MMcfd.

Petrophysical data indicated 17-27% porosity and 600-800 md permeability. Closure appears to be 1,600 acres based on 3D seismic data. Consulting engineers estimated 164 bcf of proved, probable, and possible reserves.

An 11-km, 6-in., 60 MMcfd gathering pipeline under construction to Jobo Station, an existing gas processing facility, is expected to be completed in early April.
