• 11/04/2011 -- Chesapeake signs as anchor shipper on EPP Marcellus-Utica ethane line
  Chesapeake Energy Corp. has signed a long-term contract as anchor shipper on Enterprise Products Partners LP’s proposed long-haul ethane pipeline from the Marcellus and Utica shale regions in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio to the US Gulf Coast.

  An undisclosed international major energy company will form a joint venture with Chesapeake Energy Corp. and acquire a 25% interest in 650,000 net acres in the wet natural gas area of the Utica shale play in eastern Ohio.

• 11/03/2011 -- UK government probes report that fracing caused earthquakes
  The UK government said it will consider “carefully” a report commissioned by explorer Cuadrilla Resources that acknowledges recent earthquakes in the country were caused by hydraulic fracturing.

  Bill Barrett Corp., Denver, is adding oil production in the Uinta basin from the Uteland Butte and shallower Mahogany members of the Eocene Green River formation in its Blacktail Ridge and Lake Canyon areas.
• 11/03/2011 -- Encana to sell Barnett shale gas assets for $975 million
  Encana Corp. unit Encana Oil & Gas (USA) agreed to sell its Barnett shale natural gas assets in the Fort Worth basin to various partnerships managed by EnerVest Ltd. for $975 million as part of Encana’s previously announced plans to divest up to $2 billion in noncore assets by yearend.

  Double Eagle Petroleum Co., Denver, has spudded a Niobrara exploratory well on its Atlantic Rim holdings in Sweetwater County, Wyo.
• 11/02/2011 -- Fayetteville shale gas output up as spending eases
  Southwestern Energy Co., Houston, has drilled the backbone of its Fayetteville shale gas play in the eastern Arkoma basin and is phasing down capital spending in the play this year and in 2012, the company said last week.
• 11/02/2011 -- Utica shale well tests 9.2 MMcfd in Pennsylvania
  Rex Energy Corp., State College, Pa., said its initial horizontal Utica shale well stabilized at 9.2 MMcfd of dry natural gas and should begin flowing to sales in January 2012.
