    TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. has let a contract for the acquisition of 307 sq miles of multiclient 3D seismic in the Utica shale play in the Appalachian basin in northeastern Ohio.
  • 08/31/2011 -- Epsilon, partners to build Marcellus shale gas gathering system
    Epsilon Energy Ltd. and its Marcellus shale partners, Chesapeake Energy Corp. and Statoil USA Onshore Properties Inc., are to construct a 400-MMcfd natural gas gathering system to service both the three-party farmout area they share and additional producers.

    Oil and natural gas producers have begun work on developing a third expansive play in Louisiana, giving the state one proved and producing formation and two that are being watched closely, according to Scott Angelle, secretary of Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources.
  • 08/31/2011 -- ExxonMobil takes Argentina shale farmout
    ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina SRL and a unit of Americas Petrogas Inc., Calgary, will explore and possibly exploit the Canadian company’s 163,500-acre Los Toldos blocks in the western Neuquen basin of Argentina for oil and gas in shales.
  • 08/30/2011 -- Oil sands crude will reach US without Keystone XL pipeline, consultant says
    EnSys Energy & Systems Inc. and Navigistics Consulting concluded in a report issued as part of the US Department of State’s final environmental impact statement (FEIS) on TransCanada’s proposed Keystone XL crude oil pipeline that it is “almost impossible…to conceive of a situation” wherein the anticipated 1.4 million b/d growth in Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin crude could not be shipped to the US, even if Keystone XL is not approved.

    LNG Energy Ltd., Vancouver, BC, entered into a term sheet with a unit of TransAtlantic Petroleum Ltd., Dallas, to earn a 50% interest in a future shale gas production concession in northwestern Bulgaria.

    Beach Energy Ltd., Adelaide, said it believes that in addition to substantial shale gas potential the Cooper basin in Australia also contains an unconventional basin-centered gas play.
