  • 09/23/2011 -- Wheatstone gets federal government environmental nod
    The Wheatstone LNG gas project planned for Western Australia was granted environmental approval by Australian Environment Minister Tony Burke, although it comes with 70 conditions attached.
  • 09/23/2011 -- Gate LNG terminal formally opens
    Northwest Europe saw the opening of another LNG terminal this week when partners NV Nederlandse Gasunie and Royal Vopak formally opened the Gate LNG terminal in Maasvlakte near Rotterdam.
  • 09/23/2011 -- St. James crude oil terminal expansion set
    Plains All American Pipeline LP will proceed with the third expansion phase of its St. James, La., crude oil terminal, adding 1.2 million bbl of storage capacity to bring the total to 8.3 million bbl.
  • 09/19/2011 -- KMEP, partners to develop train-to-pipeline ethanol distribution
    Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP, the Tampa Port Authority (TPA) and CSX Corp. will bring ethanol into the Tampa Bay, Fla., market via a new ethanol unit train-to-pipeline distribution system.
  • 09/19/2011 -- Chevron signs up Kyushu Electric for Wheatstone
    Chevron Corp. signed a 20-year sale and purchase agreement with Kyushu Electric Power Co. for the supply of as much as 700,000 tonnes/year of LNG from the Wheatstone LNG project offshore Western Australia.
  • 09/13/2011 -- Enbridge to twin Athabasca crude oil pipeline
    Enbridge Inc. will build a second pipeline beside the existing southern section of its Athabasca crude oil pipeline from Kirby Lake, Alta. to the Hardisty, Alta., hub. Enbridge estimates the cost at $1.2 billion, bringing total planned expansion or additions to its Regional Oil Sands System to $3.6 billion during 2011-15.

    Nord Stream natural gas pipeline has begun line fill of its 27.5 billion cu m/year Line 1. Fill will continue for about 4 weeks, with commercial operations scheduled to start in October.

    Libya’s state-owned Arabian Gulf Oil Co (Agoco) said it will resume operations at its two refineries by late September, coinciding with the start-up of production at the Sariri and Mesla oil fields.

    The Council of the European Union banned imports of crude oil from Syria, strengthening existing sanctions against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad for its repression of protesters in the country.
