  • 12/12/2011 -- Essar commissions Vadinar isomerization unit
    Essar Oil Ltd. has commissioned a large C5-C6 isomerization unit at its 300,000-b/d Vadinar refinery under expansion and upgrade in Gujarat, India (OGJ Online, Oct. 24, 2011).
  • 12/05/2011 -- Plains to buy, scrap idle Virginia refinery
    Western Refining Inc. has agreed to sell its idle 70,000-b/d Yorktown refinery and working terminal in York County, Va., and part of a crude oil pipeline in southeastern New Mexico to units of Plains All American Pipeline LP for $220 million.
  • 12/05/2011 -- QP, Shell sign agreement to develop petrochemical complex
    Qatar Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell PLC have signed a heads of agreement that “sets scope and commercial principles” to develop a petrochemicals complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City. The HOA follows the conclusion of a joint feasibility study by the two companies.

    SemGroup Corp., Tulsa, and Exterran Holdings Inc., Houston, will develop a 60-MMcfd natural gas processing plant for SemGas LP.
  • 12/02/2011 -- Sunoco to idle processing units at Marcus Hook, Pa., refinery
    Citing deteriorating refining market conditions, Philadelphia refiner and marketer Sunoco Inc. reported it will idle “indefinitely” the main processing units at its 175,000-b/d Marcus Hook, Pa., refinery.

    CHS Inc. and the two minority owners of the National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA) have reached agreement to transfer full ownership of the petroleum refiner to CHS, currently its majority shareholder.
  • 11/30/2011 -- Sasol launches feasibility study for Lake Charles ethylene cracker
    South African energy and chemicals company Sasol reported it has approved a feasibility study for a world-scale ethylene cracker and derivatives complex in Lake Charles, La.
  • 11/30/2011 -- Total, Amyris expand cooperation on renewable energy
    Total SA and Amyris Inc. signed agreements to expand their current research and development partnership and to form a joint venture aimed at developing, producing, and commercializing a range of renewable fuels and products.
  • 11/28/2011 -- Indian Oil renews supply deal with Essar
    State-owned Indian Oil Corp. Ltd., India’s largest refiner and oil products retailer, renewed an agreement for supply of 2 million tonnes/year of diesel, gasoline, kerosine, and jet fuel from privately owned Essar Oil Ltd.
  • 11/23/2011 -- BP, Indian Oil eye Gujarat acetic acid plant
    BP PLC and Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding to consider a 50-50 joint venture to build a 1 million tonne/year acetic acid plant and associated gasification facilities for production of synthesis gas.
