    McMoRan Exploration Co., New Orleans, will apply to deepen its Lafitte ultradeep prospect well on the Gulf of Mexico shelf to 32,000 ft to evaluate deeper Miocene and Oligocene objectives after wireline logs indicated 56 net ft of hydrocarbon-bearing sand with good porosity in a 58-ft gross Lower Miocene Cris-R section.

    Tethys Petroleum Ltd. reported a flow of more than 4,300 b/d of oil from a Cretaceous sandstone at the AKD06 Doris appraisal well in the North Ustyurt basin in Kazakhstan.

    Linc Energy Ltd., Brisbane, has spudded a directional well in giant Barbers Hill oil field in Chambers County, Tex., first in a development program in US Gulf Coast fields acquired from ERG Resources on Oct. 11, 2011.
  • 11/14/2011 -- Sinopec to acquire stake in Galp's Brazilian acreage
    China’s Sinopec Group, aiming to increase its presence in Brazil, agreed to acquire a 30% stake in the Brazilian unit of Galp Energia SGPS SA for $5.18 billion.
  • 11/14/2011 -- Oman: Saiwan-Farha early oil output increasing
    A group led by CC Energy Development SAL averaged 6,989 b/d of oil in October from the early production system on blocks 3 and 4 onshore Oman.
  • 11/14/2011 -- Malta: MOG to shoot 3D seismic survey in Area 4
    Mediterranean Oil & Gas PLC, through subsidiaries, has let a contract to Fugro-Geoteam Pty. Ltd. to shoot 1,000 sq km of long-offset 3D seismic in Area 4 in the Mediterranean off Malta.
