    Kulczyk Oil Ventures Inc., Calgary, said its Loon Latakia Ltd. subsidiary has suspended its Itheria-1 wildcat on Block 9 in northwestern Syria after drilling to 2,072 m.
  • 10/17/2011 -- Danish North Sea Miocene oil discovery indicated
    PA Resources AB, Stockholm, has sampled light, sweet 34-35° gravity oil in shallow Miocene sandstone at the Lille John prospect in License 12/06 in the North Sea off Denmark and plans to sidetrack the well to a chalk target.

    Abu Dhabi National Energy Co. PJSC (TAQA) will invest $46.6 million (Can.) in WesternZagros Resources Ltd., Calgary, which holds two production sharing contracts with Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government. Closing is expected by the end of October.

    Rodinia Oil Corp., Calgary, has plugged and abandoned the Mulyawara-1 rank wildcat in the Officer basin in South Australia and said shows in the Neoproterozoic Murnaroo, Mundallio, and Emeroo sandstones demonstrate an active mature petroleum system capable of generating hydrocarbon.

    Bowleven PLC, Edinburgh, will deepen its Sapele-3 exploratory well off Cameroon through the Deep Omicron formation after it encountered oil in the Upper and Middle Omicron intervals.
  • 10/13/2011 -- Peru: Pacific Rubiales to operate Maranon Block 116
    Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp., Toronto, has acquired a 50% working interest in the Block 116 exploration contract in the Santiago subbasin of the Maranon basin in northeastern Peru.
  • 10/13/2011 -- GCA: Turkmenistan's Iolotan gas field is world's second-largest
    Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA) said Turkmenistan’s South Iolotan natural gas field is the world’s second-largest, with an estimated 21.2 trillion cu m (tcm) of gas reserves.
