  • 10/21/2011 -- US rig count takes a 10-rig tumble
    US crude oil and natural gas drilling rig activity this week fell 10 units to reach a total of 2,013 rigs working. This week’s count is up, however, by 344 units from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
  • 10/20/2011 -- Tajikistan: Field well workover exceeds 500 b/d of oil
    Tethys Petroleum Ltd. reperforated and acidized the BST20 well in Beshtentak field in Tajikistan and after applying natural gas lift obtained a flow of 533 b/d of 38° gravity oil and 441 Mcfd of gas on a 25/64-in. choke with 377 psi flowing tubinghead pressure.

    Wintershall Holding GMBH, which shut down its Libyan desert oil fields in February for security reasons, has resumed production as agreed with Libyan National Oil Corp. Wintershall joins several other international oil companies that have recently resumed operations in the war-torn country.
