• 10/21/2011 -- US rig count takes a 10-rig tumble
  US crude oil and natural gas drilling rig activity this week fell 10 units to reach a total of 2,013 rigs working. This week’s count is up, however, by 344 units from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
• 10/20/2011 -- Tajikistan: Field well workover exceeds 500 b/d of oil
  Tethys Petroleum Ltd. reperforated and acidized the BST20 well in Beshtentak field in Tajikistan and after applying natural gas lift obtained a flow of 533 b/d of 38° gravity oil and 441 Mcfd of gas on a 25/64-in. choke with 377 psi flowing tubinghead pressure.

  Chevron Australia has ordered a $1.4 billion natural gas processing platform for its Wheatstone LNG development project offshore Western Australia from South Korean group Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
• 10/20/2011 -- Pemex executive sees oil output of 3 million b/d by 2016-17
  Crude oil production from Mexico’s state-owned Petroleos Mexicanos will increase to more than 2.6 million b/d by yearend and could rise to 3 million b/d by 2016-17, according to the firm’s top executive.
• 10/20/2011 -- Cairn India eyes Rajasthan production lift
  Cairn India Ltd., soon to be controlled by Vedanta Resources, London, says production from its complex of fields in Rajasthan, India, can reach 175,000 b/d of oil by next April after beginning this year at 125,000 b/d (OGJ Online, Jan. 27, 2010).
• 10/19/2011 -- Deloitte sees 36% decline in UK North Sea drilling
  Drilling activity in the UK North Sea has fallen by 36% year-on-year despite an oil price of more than $100/bbl which would normally encourage increased exploration activity.
• 10/19/2011 -- API reports jump in 3Q oil well completions
  US oil drilling in this year’s third quarter climbed 16% from a year earlier, the American Petroleum Institute said in its latest quarterly well completion report.

  Noble Energy Inc. has reportedly encountered difficulties with water pockets and gas seepage in its drilling of its Cyprus A prospect offshore Cyprus.
• 10/18/2011 -- Wintershall, other firms crank up Libyan oil output
  Wintershall Holding GMBH, which shut down its Libyan desert oil fields in February for security reasons, has resumed production as agreed with Libyan National Oil Corp. Wintershall joins several other international oil companies that have recently resumed operations in the war-torn country.

  Production of natural gas started from the Wintershall Noordzee BV-operated Wingate project on Block 44/24b in the UK North Sea.
