  • 08/26/2011 -- Baker Hughes: US drilling rig count edges up
    US oil and gas drilling rig activity increased slightly this week with the addition of 1 rig, bringing the total working rigs to 1,975. This week’s count is up by 319 rigs from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
  • 08/24/2011 -- Liberia: Anadarko drilling first deepwater wildcat
    Anadarko Petroleum Corp. is moving ahead with its 2011-12 exploratory drilling program off Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast.
  • 08/24/2011 -- Kosmos group discovers more oil off Ghana
    Operating groups led by Kosmos Energy Ltd., Dallas, and Tullow Oil PLC have tested the Akasa-1 discovery on the West Cape Three Points block off Ghana  and gauged gas-condensate at the Tweneboa-4 appraisal well on the Deepwater Tano block.
  • 08/24/2011 -- New Zealand Energy gauges Taranaki oil find
    New Zealand Energy Corp., Vancouver, BC, has gauged a light oil discovery at the Copper Moki-1 well on the northern part of the 92,466-acre Eltham permit in New Zealand’s Taranaki basin and is applying for a mining permit to establish long-term production.

    The Jasper Explorer drillship has departed Singapore enroute to Guinea, West Africa, where it is expected to spud a deepwater exploratory well in October.
  • 08/22/2011 -- Italy: Apennine Montemarciano wildcat spud nears
    Sound Oil PLC said its Apennine Energy SRL unit began civil engineering on the drillsite for the Casa Tiberi-1 farm-in exploratory well on the Montemarciano permit in southern Italy.
  • 08/22/2011 -- Te Giac Trang oil, gas field starts up off Vietnam
    Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. has placed Te Giac Trang field H1 area on production in the Cuu Long basin off Vietnam.
  • 08/19/2011 -- US drilling reaches highest count since late-2008
    US drilling activity increased this week with the addition of 15 rigs, bringing the total working rigs to 1,974. This is up from 1,651 in the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.
  • 08/19/2011 -- Anadarko issues letter of intent for Lucius spar
    Anadarko Petroleum Corp. issued a letter of intent to Technip for the engineering, construction, and transport of a 23,000-ton truss spar hull for development of Lucius field on Keathley Canyon Blocks 874, 875, 918, and 919 in the Gulf of Mexico. Water depth is about 7,100 ft of water.
  • 08/16/2011 -- Asgard subsea gas compression plan submitted
    The partners in the Asgard licenses have submitted to Norway’s minister for petroleum and energy a 15 billion kroner plan for development and operation (PDO) of subsea gas compression to maintain production from Mikkel and Midgard fields, about 200 km off Norway.
