  • 09/06/2011 -- ConocoPhillips completes shutdown after Bohai Bay oil spill
    ConocoPhillips China has completed a temporary shutdown of oil and natural gas production at Penglai 19-3 field in Bohai Bay as ordered by China’s State Oceanic Administration (SOA) while ConocoPhillips and its partner, China National Offshore Oil Corp., develop and submit a compliance plan to SOA.

    Halliburton Co. filed claims against BP PLC on Sept. 1 in Texas state court for negligent misrepresentation, business disparagement, and defamation related to the Apr. 20, 2010, Macondo well blowout.
  • 09/02/2011 -- US drilling rig count takes slight hit
    US oil and gas drilling rig activity fell slightly this week with the loss of 7 rigs, bringing the total working rigs to 1,968. This week’s count, however, is up by 315 rigs from the comparable period a year ago, Baker Hughes Inc. reported.

    China’s State Oceanic Administration (SOA) ordered ConocoPhillips China to suspend production operations at Peng Lai 19-3 field in Bohai Bay while the oil company develops a compliance plan with its partner in the field, China National Offshore Oil Corp.

    The US Bureau of Land Management’s environmental assessment of Samson Resources Co.’s proposed development of the Hornbuckle oil field in northern Wyoming is available, BLM’s Casper, Wyo., field office announced on Aug. 26.
  • 08/29/2011 -- Total starts Pazflor output off Angola
    Total SA has started production from giant deepwater Pazflor field off Angola, saying it expects output to reach full capacity of 220,000 b/d of crude oil “over the coming months.”
