Whiting makes executive appointments

Whiting Petroleum Corp. appointed James T. Brown as president and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 1, 2011.

HOUSTON, Dec. 22--
Whiting Petroleum Corp. appointed James T. Brown as president and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 1, 2011. Brown joined Whiting in May 1993 as a consulting engineer, became operations manager in 1999, was elected vice-president of operations in 2000, and held the position of senior vice-president since May 2007.

James J. Volker continues to serve as chairman and chief executive officer of Whiting. Volker joined Whiting in August 1983. He has more than 39 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry.

Mark R. Williams was named senior vice-president, exploration and development. Williams joined the company in December 1983 as exploration geologist and served as vice-president of exploration and development at Whiting since December 1999. He has 27 years of oil and gas experience.
