HOUSTON, Aug. 4
– Atlas Energy Inc., Pittsburgh, said it controls 105,000 net/136,000 gross acres in the emerging Utica/Collingwood shale play of northwestern Michigan.

Meanwhile, BreitBurn Energy Partners LP, Los Angeles, said it owns more than 120,000 net acres in the play's prospective area.

Atlas also has 274,000 net acres in the Antrim shale of Michigan, of which 27,000 are undeveloped and contain more than 500 proved infill locations.

Meanwhile, Atlas had access to 130,000 net acres in the biogenic New Albany shale as of June 30, with more than 450 potential drilling locations.

Atlas averaged 55 MMcfd of gas equivalent production from its Michigan/Indiana segment in the quarter ended June 30.
