– Running Foxes Petroleum Inc., Centennial, Colo., and Nighthawk Energy PLC have drilled 11 coalbed methane wells to be completed at Xenia field in Bourbon County, Kan., to add to the 11 wells that have produced a combined 150 MMscf of gas since late October 2009.

The Cherokee basin wells produce from Pennsylvanian Summit, Excello, and Riverton coals at less than 1,000 ft.

A consultant estimated gross proved and probable reserves on 6,000 acres at 4.4 bcf. The consultant separately estimated a most likely 6.85 million bbl of original oil in place on 3,700 acres.

The companies, which held 15,000 acres in the area, have purchased another 3,250 acres in Bourbon County known as the Green Valley project that has two shut-in wells that flowed more than 100 Mcfd of gas but were never connected to a pipeline
