CNOOC makes senior management changes

China’s CNOOC Ltd. appointed Yang Hua as chief executive officer and vice-chairman of the company. Yang succeeds Fu Chengyu, who will resign as chief executive officer but will remain CNOOC’s chairman.

-- China’s CNOOC Ltd. appointed Yang Hua as chief executive officer and vice-chairman of the company. Yang succeeds Fu Chengyu, who will resign as chief executive officer but will remain CNOOC’s chairman.

Li Fanrong was appointed as the company’s president. The senior management changes will become effective Sept. 16.

Yang is a senior engineer and joined CNOOC in 1982 and has more than 28 years of experience in oil exploration and production. Yang has served as general manager of CNOOC China Ltd. and chairman of CNOOC Southeast Asia Ltd. From November 2006 to April of this year, Yang served as assistant president of CNOOC, and was appointed as vice-president of CNOOC in May.

Li is a senior engineer and has been working in the oil and gas industry in China for more than 26 years.

From January 2009 to April of this year, Li was appointed as assistant president of CNOOC and has served as president of CNOOC Energy Technology & Services Ltd. since February 2009. Li also has served as vice-president of CNOOC since May. Li also was appointed as a nonexecutive director of the company in May.
