HOUSTON, July 1 – Aminex PLC said its US subsidiary is placing on production Olympia Minerals-1, first well drilled on 3D seismic in Shoats Creek field in Beauregard Parish, southwest Louisiana.
Eocene Cockfield-2 sand at 8,600 ft tested at a rate of 504 b/d of oil on a 27/64-in. choke with 350 Mcfd of associated gas. One of four logged zones extensively tested, it is being placed on production at 150 b/d of oil. Gas sales will require installation of treating facilities.
Aminex has a 100% interest in the well. Black Tip Petroleum, a subsidiary of Ninox Petroleum, which was granted a 90-day option to farm into the property earlier this year, had not exercised its option by the closing date of June 26.
The next well is likely to test the deeper Wilcox sands believed to underlie the property.
