HOUSTON, May 19 – Chevron North Sea Ltd. let a contract to SeaBird Exploration Ltd., Cyprus, to acquire a large ocean bottom node seismic survey West of Shetland in the Faroe-Shetland Channel.
SeaBird will acquire multicomponent data in 1,200 m of water for improved reservoir characterization over the Rosebank oil discovery (see map, OGJ, Aug. 20, 2007, p. 38). The 3-month survey, including mobilization and demobilization, is to start at the end of May.
The contractor will conduct the survey using Hugin Explorer vessel with a capacity of 750 proprietary autonomous CASE Abyss nodes onboard and the Kondor Explorer source vessel. The full azimuth dense shooting program is to cover 250 sq km.
