HOUSTON, May 13
– Talisman Energy Inc. has spud the Fortierville-1 horizontal exploration well in Quebec’s St. Lawrence Lowlands and plans to drill to 3,439 m measured depth with a 1,000-m lateral in Ordovician Middle Utica shale.

Partner Questerre Energy Corp., Calgary, said the drillsite is between the St. Edouard-1A and Gentilly-2 wells in an unstructured area in the play fairway. An eight-stage frac is planned.

The operator and its partners also plan to complete Gentilly-2, whose logs indicate its lateral penetrated the middle and lower Utica intervals. The completion program involves testing both intervals with a total of five stage fracs, Questerre said.

Questerre also said early planning has begun for a 3D seismic survey of the St. Edouard area to identify future pilot pad locations. The St. Edouard-1A horizontal well is on long-term production test and continues to meet expectations. Talisman and Questerre are evaluating pipeline options.
