HOUSTON, May 26
– Zion Oil & Gas Inc., Dallas, reached an agreement with Kibbutz Ma’anit that affords the company access to a drillsite for the Ma’anit-Joseph-3 exploratory well.

Zion plans to drill the well below 18,000 ft to target hydrocarbons in Permian age formations. The well would be the first in northern Israel drilled to Permian.

Zion also let a contract to Geophysical Institute of Israel to shoot 64 line-km of 2D seismic in Zion’s Issachar-Zebulun permit area and Asher-Menashe license area. The seismic is to help Zion decide the next steps for the temporarily abandoned Elijah-3 well and identify prospects in the Issachar-Zebulun permit.
