HOUSTON, Apr. 1
– ExxonMobil Corp. subsidiaries own six unconventional gas exploration licenses that total 3 million acres in Germany.

The licenses, in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, have exploration plays for shale gas and coalbed methane in the Lower Saxony, Ibbenburen, and Ruhr basins (OGJ Online, Mar. 1, 2010).

ExxonMobil operates all of the licenses and has 67% interest in five and a 100% interest in the sixth. Drilling and other evaluation activity continued in 2009.
