HOUSTON, Mar. 3 – Salamander Energy PLC agreed to acquire a 20% interest in the Bontang PSC from PT Eksindo Petroleum Tabuhan, giving Salamander 90% interest in the PSC in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The Bontang PSC, in the northern Kutei basin, has seen no exploratory drilling in 25 years. Salamander shot 3D seismic data in 2008-09 that indicate multiple prospects in structural and stratigraphic plays.

Salamander chose the Angklung prospect as the first drilling target and expects to spud a well in the second quarter of 2010.
