-- Tesoro Corp. has elected Greg Goff as president and chief executive officer effective May 1. Goff formerly served as senior vice-president, commercial, for ConocoPhillips. He succeeds Bruce Smith in those roles.

Smith will continue as company chairman until the company's annual meeting on June 4, at which time he plans to retire after 18 years of service with the company. At that time, Steven Grapstein, currently lead director, will assume the role of nonexecutive chairman.

In his most recent position with ConocoPhillips, Goff was responsible for optimizing the value of the company's assets through supply and trading of its commodity portfolio. He joined the company in 1981 and held various positions in transportation, supply, and trading.
