HOUSTON, Mar. 15 -- America's Natural Gas Alliance has selected Jim Hackett, chairman and chief executive officer of Anadarko Petroleum Corp., as the organization’s new chairman.

Hackett has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry and has served as Anadarko's top executive since 2003. Before joining Anadarko, he served as president and chief operating officer of Devon Energy Corp.

Hackett succeeds David Trice, ANGA's founding chairman, who recently retired as president and chief executive of Newfield Exploration Co. and now serves as the company's nonexecutive chairman.
