MELBOURNE, Jan. 27 -- Woodside Petroleum Ltd. awarded Technip and Subsea 7 Inc. a subsea installation contract for the proposed Cossack Wanaea Lambert Hermes (CWLH) oil field redevelopment project in the Carnarvon basin off Western Australia.

The two companies will provide project management, recover and install three risers, install 20 km of flowlines, carry out riser base rectification works, and assist in precommissioning.

The work is to begin during the fourth quarter using Technip’s vessel Venturer as well as the Nor Australis dive support vessel contracted to Woodside.

The contract will be managed out of Technip’s Perth office.

The overall CWLH redevelopment project involves replacement of the fields’ original Cossack Pioneer floating production, storage, and offloading vessel as well as refurbishment of the associated subsea infrastructure.

The fields, located 135 km northwest of Karratha, have produced 395 million bbl of oil since they came on stream in 1995.
