LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27 -- Mexico's Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has appointed Carlos Trevino Medina as chief financial officer. Trevino Medina succeeds Esteban Levin Balcells, who will assume the role of administrative director.
Trevino Medina formerly served as general director of programming and budget in the finance and public credit ministry.
Levin Balcells held the post of corporate finance director since October 2006.
The appointments become effective Feb. 1.
The changes coincide with a recent report by Mexico’s El Financero newspaper stating that the state firm ended 2009 in the red. The newspaper said the “most important” business in the country registered a negative balance in its financial statement, which made it the company “with the greatest financial problems in the country.”
