    Ghana’s 45,000-b/cd Tema refinery has ceased operation because of a lack of crude, according to Reuters.
  • 04/16/2010 -- Further delays seen for Brazil's Abreu e Lima refinery
    The start-up of Brazil’s planned 230,000-b/d Abreu e Lima refinery, now under construction in Pernambuco state, has been delayed by another 7 months, according to an executive of state-owned Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras).
  • 04/19/2010 -- Compression headed to new Algerian plant
    The El Merk central processing plant, to be operated by Groupement Berkine in Algeria’s Berkine basin, will receive turbo compression equipment from GE Oil & Gas in a $100 million contract executed through subcontractor Petrofac.
  • 04/19/2010 -- Shell starts up ethylene cracker in Singapore
    Shell Eastern Petroleum Ltd. has started up its new ethylene cracker in Singapore.
  • 04/20/2010 -- Dominion to expand gathering, processing for W.Va., Ohio production
    In separate announcements, Dominion, Richmond, Va., said it plans to expand natural gas gathering, processing, and transportation for Marcellus shale and Appalachian production.
  • 04/21/2010 -- ConocoPhillips withdraws from Yanbu project
    ConocoPhillips is withdrawing from its venture with Saudi Aramco to build a 400,000-b/d export refinery at Yanbu, on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.
  • 04/22/2010 -- Oneok to invest in Bakken, Woodford shale projects
    Oneok Partners LP, Tulsa, will invest $405-470 million through yearend 2011 on projects to expand gathering and processing in the Bakken shale in Williston basin in North Dakota and the Woodford shale in Oklahoma.
  • 04/29/2010 -- Japan's Idemitsu Kosan to reduce refining capacity
    Japanese refiner Idemitsu Kosan Co., eyeing reduced demand for refined products, plans to cut 100,000 b/d of crude refining capacity by the fiscal year ending in March 2014.
  • 05/03/2010 -- Abu Dhabi Gas awards another Shah development contract
    Abu Dhabi Gas Development Co. Ltd. awarded a $1.5 billion engineering, procurement, construction, and precommissioning contract to Samsung Engineering, Seoul, for the gas complex in the 1-bcfd Shah sour-gas development about 112 miles southwest of Abu Dhabi.
  • 05/04/2010 -- Mideast ethane cracker starts up
    Qatar Petroleum has started up a new ethane cracker at its Ras Laffan industrial site. It will feed the new Qatofin polyethylene plant at Mesaieed started up in November 2009.
